Well, I’m heading out of state for the weekend for a cancer benefit, so things will probably be quiet around here over the next few days. I had to share a piece of Mel‘s post with you before I left, though… I think it sums up where a lot of citizens are at right now.
I am really angry with myself today. As I look at the tyrannical positions and the thievery taking place in Washington, I realized that some of the blame for this falls at my very doorstep. No I did not vote for the current administration (big surprise I know) but I have also spent the vast majority of my adult life not getting involved in politics either. I have erroneously trusted that those we vote to represent us will do just that. I have not taken a stand nor spoken out against the complete incompetence I have seen. While I am glad I have found my voice I am also very aware that We the People are paying and will continue to pay an ever steepening price for our apathy and complacency. I still hear people I respect say it does not matter who is in charge because ultimately God is in charge. I agree with that, but what I see is many are willing to use that statement as a reason to not take a stand.
I don’t believe God wants us to use Him as an excuse to sit on the fence and the sidelines. We have wasted His tremendous blessings by allowing complacency to settle into our lives, and I am aiming that comment right at the mirror I look into every day.
