I don’t know if I’ll be able to attend them due to constraints in my work schedule, but at the very least I can help spread the word to my fellow New Yorkers. The following are Tea Party rallies that I’ve heard of that will be held here in New York:
Rochester Tea Party and a more in-depth link here, as well
Wednesday, March 11th, 2009 – 4:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m.
“NY Gov. Patterson is going to be at the Rochester Convention Center for a ‘Town Meeting’ at 5:30 p.m. that day.”
I’d really like to attend, but at this point I’m on the schedule at work until 6 p.m. and I’m an hour away. We’ll see what I can do.
Erie County / Western NY Tea Party
Saturday, March 28th, 2009 – 2 p.m.
Also, I have seen two links on Facebook regarding a New York City Tea party. One is listed as a group, the other as an event. Both are talking about a tea party on Tax Day (April 15th, which I believe falls on a Wednesday).
New York City Tea Party Group (at the time of this post, listed as having 859 members)
New York City Tax Day Tea Party (at the time of this post, listed as having 150 confirmed attendees)
Then over at the Free New York Blog they mention the Buffalo rally I linked to earlier, as well as note that things are in the works for Tea Parties on April 18th (the Saturday after Tax Day, which sounds a lot more workable for those who.. *gasp*.. might be working on Tax Day) and July 4th, but there isn’t any further information available on those dates at this point in time. I would bookmark that blog and check back, if I were you. Oh, wait. I’m doing that myself. Well then.
I’m also keeping my ears open over at the New York Chapter of Patriots for America as regards a Tea Party in Syracuse, NY, and I’ll let you know if I hear anything.
Thank you, Please spread the word!
aiketgate,
Thanks for posting about the Rochester Tea Party! We decided last Friday that with Paterson coming to Rochester for the Town Hall meeting on Wednesday, March 11, that would be a good time to through the Tea Party. Depending on how it works out, we may have another one on April 15, on Tax Day. Many other cities are having, Tea Parties on Tax Day as well, so stay tuned!
Rus,
I’ll be glad to spread the word of the Erie County / Western NY Tea Party and will post something on the Patriots For America, New York Contingent website.
You all here may want to consider joining Patriots For America (PFA) and also the New York Contingent. It’s a great group of people, led by Colonel Harry Riley, a man I personally met last March at Eagles Muster in Washington DC. Eagles Muster was the counter protest to the Iraq Veterans Against the War (IVAW) Winter Soldier testimonies. There’s alot of people that are members of PFA who have experience in conservative activism and the support the troops movement. Here’s the link:

how much longer are going to put up with this government. Illegal aliens taking our jobs. the govt. is taking over our lives. What are we to do? Drug coming across or borders. Encursions daily. Please form some kind of committee to help. Our politial leaders in NY listen to nothing. We are paying for NYC to to a sanctionary city. Taxes are constantly going up. We are paying for all their livelyhood. Why?
Brilliant. Protest taxes right AFTER a Democrat passed the largest middle-class tax cut in American history. Protest spending AFTER Regan’s quadrupling of the debt and Bush’s doubling of it, and AFTER the economy has fallen apart on a Republican’s watch. Then claim that the Dems deserve ALL the blame!?
If these protesters were such staunch fiscal conservatives, why have they waited until NOW to protest? For decades I’ve encouraged Republican protests of ALL out-of-control spending, but fiscal conservatives lost control of the Republican party in the 60s. The people protesting now are pure party-line Republicans, too cowardly to protest against tax-and-spend Democrats AND Republicans. What’s the point of taking action now that any chance at effective protest is GONE?
P.S. The Boston tea party was the beginning of the revolution that gave us our democracy. Didn’t anyone realize that calling this a tea party would come off as being a revolution AGAINST democracy. Again, brilliant.
